The Council of Ministers has appointed Christian Blanchette as the new rector of the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivières. He will succeed Daniel McMahon as of December 1.
Mr. Blanchette has been dean of the Faculty of Continuing Education at the University of Montreal since 2011.
He was the founding director of Learn Ontario / L’Ontario learns from 1997 to 1999. A doctorate in atmospheric physics from the University of York, he has also taught at the University of York and the University. of Ottawa during his career.
Assumed in February 2016, Mr. McMahon has had a challenging tenure. Following Nadia Ghazzali’s resignation, she was entrusted with the task of straightening the finances of UQTR. Then he went through the teacher lockout crisis and, most recently, he faced the pandemic.
