HOLLISTER – Authorities are investigating the death of a 32-year-old man in Hollister as suspicious.
Officers found the man behind the wheel of a white 2014 Mercedes-Benz sedan in Browns Alley, between Sixth and Seventh streets, about 9:40 pm Wednesday, the Hollister Police Department said in a news release. The car had collided with a fence.
The man had a “bleeding chest injury and difficulty breathing,” police said. He was taken to Hazel Hawkins Hospital, where he was later died. His identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Police said they did not believe the injury was caused by the crash and are treating the death as suspicious.
The car was caught on downtown security cameras roughly 30 minutes before the crash.
