NEWARK – Police are asking for the public’s help in connection with an injury shooting over the weekend that sent an East Bay teen to the hospital.
In a statement Monday night, police said officers responded just before 6:15 am Sunday to a caller who said he had suffered a gunshot wound near Thornton Avenue and Cedar Boulevard.
When officers arrived at the intersection, they found a 19-year-old Hayward man suffering from a wound to an arm. The man was taken to a hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury, police said.
Police said they did not believe the shooting was random and expected an investigation including the shooting’s circumstances would take time.
Anyone with information may call Newark police Det. Todd Nobbe at 510-578-4937 or leave information on an anonymous tip hotline at 510-578-4965.
