San Jose: Driver of stolen vehicle kills one, insults three in early morning crash, police say

SAN JOSE – One person is dead and three others suffered major injuries after the driver of a stolen vehicle slammed into a tree and a light pole on Story Road Saturday, police said.

San Jose police officers said they responded to the area of ​​Story Road and King Road at about 3:10 am to investigate a solo vehicle collision. Police said a preliminary investigation reveled that a gray 2013 Honda Accord was traveling at high speed eastbound on Story Road when it collided with a tree and a light pole. Police found that the Honda was reported stolen in Mountain View.

Police said the vehicle was occupied by four juveniles, two males and two females. One of the female juveniles, police said, was pronounced dead at the scene. The remaining three were transported to local hospitals. One of the boys has serious life-threatening injuries while other two are expected to recover.

Police said this is the 43rd fatal traffic crash in the city for this year.
