Santa Clara: Man suffers major injuries in hit-and-run

SANTA CLARA – A 44-year-old man suffered major injuries in a hit-and-run in Santa Clara on Tuesday, police said.

The victim was walking eastbound in a crosswalk at the intersection of El Camino Real and Halford Avenue about 10:20 pm when he was hit by a dark-colored BMW traveling northbound on Halford, the Santa Clara Police Department said in a news release.

Police said the driver did not stop at the scene.

The victim was taken to the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where he remains listed in critical condition.

The BMW was described as a black-sapphire 2012 5 Series. Police said the car has significant damage to the front driver-side door.
