SARATOGA – Authorities on Tuesday arrested a woman and a man on suspicion of burglarizing half a dozen vehicles at Sanborn County Park in Saratoga late last month.
The thefts were reported at 11 am on Dec. 29, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Within six hours of the thefts, a victim noticed one of her items listed for sale on OfferUp, a mobile marketplace where people buy and sell goods online, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office said detectives identified the owner of the OfferUp account, a 36-year-old woman, as well as her associated Facebook profile and two other stolen items for sale. They also identified the woman’s 31-year-old boyfriend, who was on probation for possession of stolen property and was required to wear a GPS ankle monitor.
The ankle monitor showed the man was at the scene of the vehicle burglaries, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office said detectives obtained a search warrant for the woman’s home, vehicle and storage locker. On Tuesday morning, they served the warrant and reportedly recovered more than $ 1,300 worth of items stolen during the vehicle burglaries.
The couple was arrested and booked into the Main Jail in San Jose on charges including burglary, grand theft and possession of stolen property, the sheriff’s office said.
