The Christmas basket campaign is launched! – The Weekly Journal

The traditional Christmas basket campaign of the Artisans of Peace is launched with the aim of offering a beautiful Christmas to families in poverty in Trois-Rivières.

With the pandemic, an adaptation was needed for Christmas baskets, so that these will be delivered directly to families. The preparation period will also be extended by two days so that everything is done safely and in accordance with sanitary measures.

With the invaluable collaboration of a multitude of volunteers, the Artisans de la Paix team will be able to meet the demand and prepare 1,300 baskets filled with provisions and gifts. Nearly 450 toys will be delivered for children under 12.

Several activities are on the program to help raise funds to fill the Christmas baskets.

It starts on November 28 with a special Christmas basket food collection day. In order to supplement the shortfall in foodstuffs due to a virtual media drive, the organization invites the population to come and bring their food donations directly to 700, rue Sainte-Cécile this Saturday. A team will be on site to receive the food safely.

A food drive will be held in the libraries of the City of Trois-Rivières until December 12.

The activity Money for a little bit gives the public the opportunity to buy a spaghetti dinner for two to take out for $ 25 at the Manoir restaurant. Giant piggy banks will also be installed at Center Les Rivières to make donations.

In addition, there is the media drive until December 24. This year, we can make donations online at www.guignolee.ca or by text by texting Christmas to 20222.

In addition, there will be a special fundraiser on December 4 at four intersections in Trois-Rivières, Côte Rosemont / rue Courcelette, rue Barkoff / rue Des Ormeaux, rue Williams / boul. des Chenaux and boul. Rigaud / 6th street. The solicitation will be done in a secure manner and the donations will be used to provide food for the Christmas baskets.

The making and distribution of the baskets will take place from December 14 to 18.
