Twelve Days of Action Against Violence Against Women

From November 25 to December 6, Le FAR (Famille, Accueil, Référence), which works with women victims of domestic violence, is one of the actors of the 12 days of action against violence against women which takes place under the slogan ” Systemic violence, let’s end it! ”.

At the end of the year marked by the pandemic, social isolation, financial and psychosocial difficulties, the annual campaign of 12 days of action against violence against women is all the more crucial, pleads the Committee of 12 days of action.

The FAR, in collaboration with students in Management and Intervention in Leisure from Laflèche College, created The grip of violence, a story that provides a better understanding of the cycle of domestic violence in which too many women are trapped.

This will be presented throughout the 12 days on the Facebook page of Le FAR, as well as that of the students. Several other actions and concrete information about the violence will complement the proposed story.

In times of health crisis, the situation of victims remains complex. Confinement, teleworking and job losses increase tensions within couples. Women must then find alternative safe means of communicating with support and accommodation resources for women victims of domestic violence and their children.

Requests for external service help are on the increase and the situation is likely to continue for the months to come, underlines the CIUSSS de la Mauricie-et-du-Center-du-Québec.
